Baby Box? What the heck is a baby box?
I used to think that IRS were scary letters. In the 90’s it was SAT or GPA. For others it was HIV/AIDS.
The scariest letters that I ever saw all together in one place were SIDS.
“SIDS – Sudden infant death syndrome is the unexplained death, usually during sleep, of a seemingly healthy baby less than a year old. SIDS is sometimes known as crib death because the infants often die in their cribs.”
There is no underlying reason for SIDS. There are a lot of different events that fall under SIDS.
My first “You’re gonna be a Dad” class was awesome. We met at South Shore Hospital with a lot of other couples in various stages of pregnancy. As we sat down, I opened the blue folder on the table and absently thumbed through the pamphlets. The first one should have been titled “YOU WILL KILL YOUR BABY AND HERE’S HOW!!!!!!!!”
Terrifying. It was all about SIDS and the numbers and the research and the helplessness…
I hated it. Caroline has been nothing but a gift, but I keep this terror in the back of my mind. I’m told that is part of being a parent; the fear. Well, I can tell you that it isn’t fun. I wouldn’t trade it though. All of the rest of the stuff more than makes up for it.
