Father’s Day

When you have three sets of parents (Mom & Step-Dad, Dad & Step-Mom, In-Laws) Sunday holidays can be a bit of a chore.

Throw in an infant and a chore can turn into a slog.

My mom is travelling to visit family, so we didn’t see my Step-Dad Ed on Father’s Day. That one was delayed until next weekend. Whew…

I packed up Caroline and headed to the in-laws. Robin met me there. I stayed for a bit and opened cards and gifts.

Papa in his new, HUGE folding chair…
Papa in his normal chair with a HUGE BABY!! (ok…she’s just tall…not HUGE…)

I took my leave and headed to my Dad’s place. I finally enjoyed my “It’s a Girl!” cigar and watched the Red Sox game. Robin and Caroline joined us for dinner. It was a good, albeit busy day!

Robin gave me this:

Shadowbox. It has the scrubs, mask, and head-cover that I wore on her birthday along with her hat, wristband, formula dropper and information card from her bassinet.

Robin went back to work yesterday so I took the day off to spend with my daughter.

You know you have it pretty easy when after an 8 hour overnight sleep, your 11 week old wakes you up in the morning by laughing and talking as opposed to crying and screaming…

She had breakfast and a long nap while daddy got an unprecedented 3 hours of Video Game time. We ran some errands and cleaned up the house a little…She hates getting in her car seat (Chicco KeyFit30, btw) but calms very quickly and loves the car. I got a chance to use the stroller that I keep in my car and we walked around CVS and went and got coffee. Caroline is a popular lady.

Mama came home around 6, fed the kiddo and promptly had the cutest nap ever…

“Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT’S relativity.” – Albert Einstein

Folks, I know that we’ve only been at this for less than 3 months. I know that we haven’t hit teething or diaper rash or ear infections or strep throat…but this kid is awesome. She is happy and easygoing. We have no idea what tomorrow holds, but for today; we’re super thankful.
